Walmart GDP Finance Dashboard

I led the UX for Walmart stores GDP finance team dashboard workflows. The dashboard aims to develop a centralized platform consolidating financial data from all stores, providing actionable insights through interactive dashboards.

My Role

Senior UX/UI Designer (Consultant)

I was the sole designer and led design for the entire lifecycle of the product.

Project Duration

6 Months for both web based dashboard and Mobile Application for iOS and Android.

Team Size

Design Manager – I provided weekly project updates to this manager.

Project Background

Currently, all Walmart stores’ GDP (Global Data Portal) finance data are dispersed across spreadsheets and various system platforms. Thus, a unified view of overall store health or the ability to offer role-based access for different finance users is lacking. By implementing this dashboard, the Business Intelligence (BI) team will enable streamlined access to critical financial metrics, improve decision-making, and offer customized views based on user roles within the store finance department.

Business Goal

As a finance team leaders who frequently travels across various stores throughout the year, team needs the ability to access and analyze store performance data in real-time, from any location. This includes the flexibility to view and compare selected store data via web, tablet, and mobile devices. By doing so, team can make informed financial decisions on the go, ensuring continuous business performance evaluation without being tied to a single location.

GDP Leadership Expectations

Centralize Store Performance Data:

Consolidate all store performance data (both Walmart and Sam’s Club) into a single platform to enhance data visibility and decision-making.

Regional Performance Insights:

Provide detailed analytics on top and bottom-performing stores within a specific region, city, or zip code, supporting localized performance management.

Customized Data Views:

Ensure that store data is accessible and filterable based on operational zone type and merchandising categories to enable targeted performance analysis.

Data Comparison Capability:

Enable the selection of up to three diffrent time lines to compare financial metrics on selected store, fostering data-driven insights into comparative performance.

Customizable Financial Data:

Offer full customization of financial data, including sales, basket size, wages, markdowns, receipts, and P&L, with time-based filters aligned to Walmart’s standard reporting periods for tailored financial analysis.

Comprehensive Report Generation:

Facilitate the generation and printing of detailed performance and financial reports to support executive decision-making and operational reviews.

Administrative Control:

Implement a robust admin panel to manage access, configurations, and user permissions, ensuring secure and efficient oversight of the platform.
